3 Penny Opera

The Threepenny Opera is a satirical and witty commentary on politics, corruption, and poverty. This sardonic tale creates a world of beggars, thieves and prostitutes in the colorful musical saga of Mack the Knife, Polly Peachum and a gritty underworld cast of characters. Penned by two 20th century geniuses — Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill — this revolutionary masterpiece has had an enormous influence on musical theater (Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Urinetown). This production was staged at the Generic Theater in March 2011.
